On October 3, the day after the Oktoberfest, Mick and I decided to go to the Folkfest St.
Pete, an annual 3 day art and music festival which benefits Creative Clay, a cultural arts center in St. Pete. Creative Clay’s mission of making the arts accessible to all while bringing artists and patrons together to encourage collecting art that touches your heart. It includes art by the mentally challenged and is a marvelous thing. This is a different kind of festival, “specializing” in folk art and music, so you’re not seeing the “regular” stuff, but seeing new and interesting things, which included lots and lots of recycling of different materials, i.e. bottle cap art. Quite fascinating, and quite eco-friendly. The musicians that were playing while we were there were two marvelous jazz pianists – Battle of the Keys: Lee Pons and Kevin Wilder, and Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys – marvelous weather made it a great afternoon.
