The Florida Orchestra (FloridaOrchestra.org) has a special “Pops” series, and this past weekend, they did “The One and Only Frank Sinatra”, which, of course, was wonderful. Jeff Tyzik was the guest conductor, who has a long history of big band stuff and he did a tribute to Tommy Dorsey, with Janes Pugh on trombone, and in the second half did a Drmmer’s Medley starring Dave Mancini (don’t know if related), and a Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra written by Nathaniel Shikret, never heard before in this audience. It was very Gershwin-ish and so I loved it. Steve Lippia sang all the Sinatra favorites, and both he and Tyzik, did some fun patter as well. A very enjoyable evening! My girlfriend Kathie plays in the orchestra and so I attend thanks to her, and I keep her man, Jim, company. He and I discuss our animals in great detail during intermissions. At one time I had a pig, and he took over the care and feeding of Rooty until his death last month (the pig’s, not Jim). Rooty was the oldest pig the vet has ever known. Well, that got off the subject, didn’t it…
Thanks for your article. I also believe that laptop computers are becoming more and more popular lately, and now are often the only kind of computer employed in a household. This is due to the fact that at the same time they are becoming more and more economical, their computing power is growing to the point where they’re as potent as desktop computers from just a few in years past.
wish I could afford one. I’m happy with my desk top.
